Errand Day

Yes. I managed to accomplish a lousy one thing on my list of things to do today. My efficiency is approaching zero on the y axis. (Because, y'know, as Brennan's attempts to be efficient grow, his chances of actually being so diminish. I'm sure there's an x-axis in there somewhere. Maybe we could put 'The number of times Brennan has attempted to communicate with Belgian people and failed to get his point across' on the z-axis! Then my failure would be three-dimensional! =D =D )

Anyways, I went to the doctor to get a prescription for a rash thingy I have, and I couldn't really describe it properly to him because I had had it before, but I had forgotten what exactly it was, or when it started, and MAN, did I feel silly. Anyways, I needed to get something for it, and it was a chance for me to attempt the Belgian medical system! (Scary, I know.) Anyways, I tried to explain to them how I was covered, and I was REALLY hoping they would do the nice people thing, (ie. bill the company, not the messenger.) but, alas, it's Belgium. It's just not meant to be. So I have to send away my claims. Which is a big pain. Like, more than having both my arms cut off and sewn to my ears. The reason is that if you do the math and compare getting health insurance here (which is about 50€ for the year) to me having to get reimbursed in euros, means that I am losing a certain percentage of money in the conversion rate, (1.5 Canandian dollars equal approximately 1 euro) and that I am ALSO losing money on postage (.65€ per stamp) so every time I have to get a prescription it will cost me on top of what I will get reimbursed, approximately 3.00€. (A guess.) It would almost have been much easier to get health insurance here. I'm sure I'm saving money by doing it the Canadian way, but I'm just not sure how at this point. (Also, every time, they kept asking, "Do you have one of those yellow cards?" And every time I wanted to say, "No, but I have Health Cards from Canada! They're valid! HONEST! I'M LEGIT I SWEAR!")

Oh. And as for those who don't get the running joke in the second panel, it's a butterfly. Do you get it now? You should. I know about five people who will kill themselves over this.
I deliver, people!

Well, to some people. Anyways, if you don't get it, don't worry about it. It's more of an inside joke, although it is a fairly popular culture reference. (Re: Simpsons)

SLEEP! NEED IT!

I have been waking up every day at either in the morning, or 10, depending on whether I went to bed at 5, or whether I went to bed at 1, which seems to be my times of going to bed right now. It's a little frustrating because I wake up and go, "NOOOOOOO!!! IT'S ONLY 5 IN THE MORNING!" I then sort of try and force myself back to sleep for about an hour, and then I get up. Although I wake up surprisingly awake, it's killing my work ethic. I only got done about three of the five things I needed to do today, and one of the most important ones was study. Anyways, needless to say, I have been sort of in a weird limbo, and...uh...my brain is just fried. LOL. But I have been doing fun things, so it's ok. I'm not in the middle of finals anymore (For which I am ostracized by the majority of the student community whenever I say that I'm done finals.) and so it's ok for me to be sleep wonky. Not pleasant, but acceptable in that roll-with-the-punches sort of way. Anyways, I am probably going to do some travelling in the near future, so it should be nice. =D I'll let you know what happens. Until tomorrow! Two more days of comic madness! Yay!

A Cleaning Story

OK, so this is what happened to me when I uber cleaned my studio today.

So...officially, I house at least 2% of Leuven's spider population. I don't know how this happened, but I'm assuming word got around that I'm all about the loving nature, and as such, nature has moved in with me. So, everywhere I look, there are spiders. Except, thankfully....not in my bed. And, as such, I'm a happy, happy man. With an irrational fear THAT SPIDERS ARE GOING TO EAT ME IN MY SLEEP.

So, yes, cleaning was a little traumatic, because everything that had a possible corner to it, when inspected closely, had a spider web. And this, my friends, is enough for Brennan to want to run around screaming in circles until he hits his head and knocks himself unconscious. Not that I wouldn't do that for other reasons, but you know. It's sort of the principle of the matter to give into one's fears when one has been around too many cleaning supplies. It seems like a good idea at the time. (Needless to say, there was a lot of screaming. Yes. Very, very... mature-sounding screams of terror.)

Anyways, I am planning on finding ways to deal with my spider issues, and until then, I'm going to sleep with one eye open. Or maybe just with a can of Raid. I haven't decided.

Well, gotta go! Talk to you later! Keep it real...and hygenic! =D =D =D

Narnia Impressions II

OK...so...it's late...and...uh...I'm kinda tired...so...the cartoon didn't turn out quite as planned. I was going to give you some general sketches of the movie, but I'm finding it hard to do only one panel sketches. I guess I'm too long-winded to do the one-panel, one joke sketches. Here's the cartoon. All I have to say, is that this version's White Witch is exceedingly dim-witted...and...kinda Royal British Acting crazy. Anyways, she puts on a very comical performance, and is not nearly as scary as I thought she'd be. So, until tomorrow, enjoy the comic! =D Tomorrow probably won't be about Narnia! I almost totally promise! =D

The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe-Impressions

Yes, well, I got the Narnia DVD for Christmas, and not the YTV special, but the one before that, which had even worse animation, if that's possible. I know it's different, and of lesser quality because the beaver costumes in this one look more like brown amoebas instead of beaver costumes, and Mr. Beaver doesn't whistle through his teeth in this version. Anyways, here's a little something that I put together that took me a while because I'm still EXTREMELY learning how to use Photoshop. When I get a better hang of it, I'm sure I'll even be tempted to colour! Anyways, I'm sorry the photos are a little small, I thought they would be bigger, given the size of the file and all. Next time, I'll make sure to fix this problem. As always, click on them to see them in full view.

Yes, so what I've noticed more than anything in this particular version of Narnia: Peter is a uh, well, a little...lacking in the courage department, and is kinda smaller than Edmund. Although he's a good actor, being shorter than a really short Edmund is really...well, not very flattering to the whole "Peter the Magnificent" idea, and his voice is high. Like, REALLY high. And Lucy kinda looks like the white version of Oprah pre-diet fads. She's a festively plump little girl, and that's cute. And a little disconcerting, since she kinda looks like she could take Edmund and Peter in a fight. And she kinda looks like someone you might see entering arm-wrestling competitions when she's older and beating the crap out of people in allies. She's adorable.

And I LIKE this version's Susan...she's nice, and not a totally horrid person like in the Narnia movie. I was crushed how the movie turned her into a finger-pointer 24-7, and then all of a sudden at the end, she was "Susan the Gentle?" A little strange, no?

Anyways, I'm highly amused at the quality of these DVDs. I'm enjoying them almost as much as bad ninja movies. I might post another bit on Narnia when I've watched a bit more.

OK, my duty is done. It's 4 in the morning. I need sleep. LOL. Keep it cool! And done at 9:24 your time. Not bad. =)

Comics

Hi People,

OK, sorry for the fib, but because of software issues, the comic will be up before nine, as opposed to around 6-ish, but I have it all worked out! Really!

OK, back to Photoshop a-traipsing I go! =D

Day 1

OK, so day one didn't turn out QUITE as planned for two reasons. The first reason is because Blogger went down right when I was finishing the post, and the second reason is explained in the comic. Enjoy! More later today!

Interlude One

OK, so I'm totally missing talking to people who I don't even know might be reading this, so I thought I would put up some sites that I found while taking study breaks, and I thought you would find some of them funny. I did. Or at least interesting.

For example, there is the Courtney Love article on why file-sharing is awesome. And, frankly, I'm debating whether she wrote this or HIRED someone to write this, because gosh-DANG does she sound way more intelligent than what the press write about her. The article is awesome.
(Hey, that was the first time I ever hyperlinked properly! Yay! I'm so awesome!)

Next, we have an amusing article on Icelandic people. They're so much like the Irish it's funny in regards to this stuff, don't you think? http://news.softpedia.com/news/Icelandic-Roads-Rerouted-Due-To-Elves-Tradition-5001.shtml

Second lastly, I accidentally found this website while looking up stuff on Courtney Love, and do you know she has a goth anime doll based on her rock and roll career? (Or something like that, I still don't understand the details.) Anyways, it's a Gothic online personals website, and I can hardly believe how amusing it is. The funniest thing is that I have NEVER seen a group of more commitment-searching people in my life. Anyways, you should read some of the success stories, which are available here. I was highly educated by the experience. I don't know what Caitlin would have to say about this, who is constantly providing, er, criticism for non-conformists, but I thought it was cute in it's own way. And a little creepy, but that comes with the territory, and I think most goth-minded people would take that as a compliment, right?

Lastly, and most importantly, this is a toy that I encourage you to buy for all of your friends who have children, are planning to have children, or just buy it for me. It's the perfect gift for anyone like me. Or just me. =D http://www.judaism.com/display.asp?type=quicksearch&etn=IIBHH

OK, so that's all until later tonight with the cartoon. I'm going to go watch the Narnia TV series I got for Christmas! Later y'all!

Ahem...

To note: I am using a new software, my handy new Wacom board, which came with some pre-bundled software, which is fun, but also painful because it misses KEY FEATURES TO ROTATE IMAGES AND THEN CROP THEM PROPERLY. OK, whew, glad to get that out of my system. Seriously.

Anyways, this begins Brennan's crazy week of cartoon fun! I'm going to post a cartoon here everyday! And they wont all be lamely sideways! (Which makes me uber unhappy! Because I have issue when I have to crane my neck!)

As for finals, I'm pretty sure I failed the one I wrote/had an oral exam on today (it was, uh, a combo) but if I did, so did a bunch of other people, so I'll totally get over it! It's a class that's important, but not that important in the grand scheme of things. Anyways, don't take too much from that, I don't know my mark, but I know how I felt when I finished the exam. Like I was worth less than the gum I could scrape off the bottom of my shoe. The worst part about it was that I thought I had prepared well for the exam, and then the question asked was the one I was hoping not to have to answer, and we also had to explicate a passage, which I wasn't very happy with, (because I'm dumb and I panic during exams with stuff I don't explicitly know beforehand.) and the exam ended uh, sort of, uh, like I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing. It seemed to end badly. I made some mistakes in what I wrote down, and then I when we talked it over I was like, "OH MY GOSH HOW DID I THINK IT WAS A GOOD THING TO WRITE THAT?" Anyways, needless to say, I felt a little lousy after my exam. I just re-read my notes, but I noticed he actually DID talk about the passage he asked us to explicate, and my answer somewhat matched his. Anyways, it was my last exam, so my study rigor was at an all time low, (I only managed to study twelve or so hours for the exam, and then about 4 the day of, not enough) so I will chalk it up to experience, and I will inform you on how things went. On the plus side, however, I think I did well for what I had left in me. And, frankly, that wasn't a lot. =)

Anyways, back to what is fun, everyday for a week, I will post a new cartoon that has to relate with my experiences of getting back home and finals, and then I will post the big winner cartoon, since Russ has asked for a Brennan cartoon, which "Should be in the regular Brennan style, and include Russ, or not include Russ, and Whatever. And it has to be funny." OK, well, high stakes! Anyways, it will be an uber-cartoon special, extra-length! Wohoo! Anyways, I have to get off to bed here in a bit, so I'll talk to you all later, and keep checking back here for more good times! =D =D =D

Finals

Just so everyone's aware, I have a very, screamingly scary finals schedule ahead of me, so I will probably not post anything on here for a while, but during my break after finals, between the holding myself in the fetal position from it all, I'll have some AMAZINGLY funny and awesome things for you! So, just so everyone knows, I got over here safe, and I have to leave my awesome tales for later! Cheerio! (At least you can say that, all you people with new semesters! Yay for non-scary newness! =D)

See you later!
