Halloween for Your Ears

Just in case you want some Halloween music and sounds, then look here.

I will post Halloween pics when I can. =)

Home!

Well, I finally did it last week.

I booked my flight home, and I will arrive in Saskatoon at 7 pm on December 17th.

I'm super happy.

If Sarah still reads this, I couldn't find a way to come visit you this season where I thought you would be done finals, and without me spending time away from my family and also so that work wouldn't kill me (I'm kinda already taking three weeks off...and even that's not enough.) so next time, or maybe during some kind of holiday.

Anyways, just thought you might want to know. I'll post this info again in early December.

200?

Wow, talk about scary. I thought I would post yet another useless quiz, which I found to be quite fun...the Sesame Street Personality Quiz. I recommend you all find out which you are. =D

I'm actually not that surprised that I got Kermit. Not sure why.

I suppose I should do something interesting for a posting like 200.

Um...

I got nuthin'.

Maybe something for 225? Anybody have any ideas?
In other news, I have no idea what I'm going to where for Halloween.

Maybe I'll dress up as an American.

Kermit the Frog
You scored 60% Organization, 61% abstract, and 69% extroverted!
This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are mostly organized, both concrete and abstract, and more extroverted.

Here is why are you Kermit the Frog.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. Kermit is also reasonably tidy. He'll even dress up for interviews.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Kermit spends a lot of his time as a reporter collecting facts, but he is also the author of the dreamy song "The Rainbow Connection." You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course.

You are both extroverts. Kermit gets along with everyone. Sure a few folks annoy him, but that's just because they are annoying. Kermit likes to meet new people when he does his job as a street reporter. You definitely enjoy the company of others, and you don't have problems meeting new people... in fact you probably look forward to it. You are willing to take charge when necessary or work as part of a team.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Kermit starred on Sesame Street years before The Muppet Show.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Snuffleupagus
Ernie
Elmo
Cookie Monster
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley
Bert

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!

The Monster Mash

You can find the website of Bobby "Boris" Pickett here. Some little known facts about the Monster Mash:

The BBC banned the song in 1962 on the grounds that it was "too morbid".

This song has been used to help start a campaign against over-using the environment. You can hear "The Climate Mash" here. This song is performed by the original singer, and the flash animation is quite funny, considering how serious they are about climate change.

There's been a movie made out of it, also with Bobby Pickett. It's a musical.

Mike Tyson appeared with Bobby Brown on Jimmy Kimmel Live, performing a duet of the song.

(Now that IS scary.)

Germatriculated for evil content

In lighyt of the Halloween season, while searching for things for my thesis, I found the Germatriculator, which will calculate the amount of evil in a website or a piece of text. According to the Germatriculator:

This site is certified 60% GOOD by the Gematriculator

Yay! My evil content is below average!

Although, really, it's like I get a C+ in goodness. That's so not good.

I'll try and post more Halloween goodness as we count down! =D

Today, I had two unpleasant surprises adminstratively speaking. First that my classes haven't all been approved (Which is surprising) and second, that the international office forgot to send me a form I need for my residency card, which is roll-your-eyes-able, since I kinda need it.

In other news, I finally have managed to give back most things which people have lent me, and I have also managed to re-acquire my suitcases! =D And I got a free dinner out of it! Good times!

I have one more book to send to someone in the States, and some German cookbooks and german dictionaries to give back, and then I'm duty-free of other people's items! Score-ness!

It drives me crazy having other people's things sometimes.

OK, bed! Ack!

The Metro

The metro is a rather trashy newspaper that they dish out every day for people riding...yes, the metro. Here are some of the articles, which I thought I would share.

In China, they put babies in tiny little water tubs, with life preservers around their necks in hopes that they will one day swim. This would seem interesting if that baby's face didn't look like it belonged to a sumo wrestler.

Also, they have people walk around in cute costumes of random coloured condoms, which will help people to understand the evils of AIDS. Yes, you too might get AIDS if you shake hands with the orange condom instead of the yellow one. Clearly, the moral of this story is that giant condoms with happy faces will one day rescue you from a sexual epidemic.

The rest of the articles are equally strange.

OK, bed time! Bye!

Fried Chicken?

For anyone who has ever wanted to hear rap and fried chicken in the same sentence:

This is funny. But scary.
Well, I've been very busy, and it probably won't slow down until after this week, so I probably won't be able to put anything on here until...um...well, at least after Tuesday. Presentation and some other things...so that will keep me busy. Teaching english is fun, and I just had my first theatre meeting this year, and the people are really nice. Anyways, it's been a weird, but fulfilling day, and very good overall. Alright, have to jet!

Time, Time, Time

Well, it's been crazy, but it's going a little better, things are starting to get organized, and I can finally get everything done that needs doing. I have two more e-mails, some reading, and then I can go to sleep. No time for pictures, but I'll post some, maybe tomorrow, probably Thursday. Very tired. =)

Small update

Today I have done a lot, my training is finished, so I can sort of make sense of life again and live like a regular beligerent student. The only difference is that I can spend a little more freely now, and that makes me happy. I'm excited to be teaching again. I miss it.

The only thing that was bad today was that I was on the metro, being as depressed as every human being should be when the ride the same metro every day for two weeks the exact same route with people too close who are sometimes smelly and sometimes loud and who speak much better french than you ever will, when a man walked onto the metro car with his guitar. He said something in french which translated as something like, "Please, if you want to give me money for my singing, please do, especially if you like it, please give" and he began to sing bawdy italian songs and play his guitar.

Very, very loudly.

On the metro.

In my personal space.

I think I understand in big cities why some people get jaded. There's so much poverty, so much everything else that you can't deal with when you feel really tired, everything that's bad and sneaky and troublesome, and you can't be yourself in a big city without someone wanting to sell you what they have, whatever is it that they have. It's too much. You just want to hide from it all.

I was very tired.

I still am very tired.

Anyways, I will put up pictures later, but for now, I must go and prepare thanksgiving dinner. If I don't post until later this week, then Happy Thanksgiving.

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

I have inadvertently started dancing to myself ever so slightly while I'm on the train now.

I think I'm going crazy. =D

I have been doing job training for teaching english for the past week and bit, which is why there haven't been updates on here. I will try and update when I can, job training finishes on Friday, acting on Thursday, friend comes to Leuven at the same time Thursday night, leaves Saturday, Thanksgiving dinner this weekend, parade this weekend, first Janus Theatre meeting this weekend, still need to buy a turkey. (Going to try a turkey.)

Wohoo! Definitely back to normal around here! =D =D =D
