Late Posting

Just wanted to apologize for my lack of posting lately. I have been doing more reading than hanging around my computer. Anyways, I will probably have a cartoon up in the next couple days. Just so you know, everything is going well, and I am sorry to hear about the Sheaf controversy back home. (For those of you who don't know, the local university newspaper has been caught publishing some rather offensive cartoons while not publishing the now famous Muslim cartoons.)

Anyways, I would simply like to bypass all of that, and hope that everyone is having a good day.

To make up for the bad cartoon karma that is going around, I want to share with you my favourite cartoon I have ever found on the web. It makes me laugh every time I read it. You can find it here.

And I have recently found a cartoon about philosophy which I found funny. Well, it's sort of about philosophy, you might want to look up the philosophical dictionary definition of nihilism before you read it if you're not acquainted with the term. It's funny either way, though. Check it out.

OK, off to relax a little on Sunday before play practice.

Yeah, I don't know which was worse, the drawing of the comic or the Sheaf publishing it. Ah well, nothing I can do about it now. I'm still mad about that incredibly poorly written and rather unflattering article about the Flying Fish a few weeks back. I'm too nice, though, to write a letter to the editor. No, wait, it's not that I'm nice; I just don't care.

I too enjoy Sam and Fuzzy, but I've never been a big Beaver & Steve fan. It's the same humour as White Ninja, but I like White Ninja more. Mmm, Pirate Juice!

I agree, both were terrible. I also understand about badly written "Arts and Entertainment" articles. Most of them are, well, terrible in their own right. I've e-mailed people about this before.

Actually, as far as Beaver and Steve goes, I like it off again on again, but that second cartoon I read, well, it did it for me. It's such a good rendition of love, isn't it? There's a lot of things going on in that one panel, so I think it's interesting. Beaver and Steve is almost a little too amoral for me, and hits a little too close to home sometimes, so it's off again on again. =)

Essentially the Sheaf said "No, we won't publish your controversial cartoons, that's not what we stand for. We'll make our own cartoon." The worst part is, they could have made a point. Then at least people could say "Oh, this is just a shocking student protest about the secularization of society, or the need for more aid to the third world, or something." But there really is no point or message. I think "pointless" is a pretty good way to describe the Sheaf lately, not to mention "needlessly shocking" and "unintelligent".

I don't think that's because of the cartoon controversy. The Sheaf has had the "suck" knob on 11 for a long while.

On another note, Brennan, I never even thought that "jeremiad" sounds like "jihad"...that is weird.

Amen to that!
