Ryerson Facebook What?

Apparently, there is a huge ker-smudgel at Ryerson University because someone was using facebook to study with other people on group assignments instead of doing it in a library, and this has gotten him expelled. I had no idea this sort of thing was a problem...honestly, it's an information share, and I assume that people do this sort of thing all the time, and considering that there are such things as group assignments, this sort of behaviour is normally encouraged and isn't called cheating. I understand why it is a problem, but expelling someone from University because they use facebook?? To me, this just says that academia is power-hungry for things that are important to them, ie. the control of public space.
