Bit of a Benchmark *Cymbal Crash*

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that I have officially published something and got paid for it.

I wrote a review of my new laptop, the Acer 5720 and while the pay was only in paypal dollars, I am glad that it was finally published. They did a little bit of editing of my text, but it's mostly original, which I'm really happy about. 90% of the tech stuff is by me! *I'm so happily geeky!* Usually just the other stuff that is always in the reviews (explanations of benchmarks) is by the site. If you go right now, you can see it on the front page of http://www.notebookreview.com/! I'm so excited about this!

I learnt a couple of things from this:

  • First, never delete any of your material or programs that you used until everything is published. (I really kicked myself that I didn't do this...cost me extra time.)
  • Remember to write down your results for every and keep it in a safe place. (I am so glad I did this.)
  • Don't forget to follow the exact format people ask...I left out a couple things because a) I was tired and b) I thought it would detract rather than add to the review (extra text, useless pictures, videos, etc.) but actually, people wanted this stuff! Dang it! I should have just included it all!
  • That writing articles for magazines is much easier than I thought it was. Although this took a lot of time to make because it was my first time (and the french-english schizo) AND because I am really trying to write something well because I know I can use this for a resume any day, this still wasn't that hard. I could write for a living if I did this all day. Although, it really helped that I loved what I was writing about, in a really geeky kinda way. =)
I'm going to go take a screenshot of the webpage right now! YAY FRONTPAGE BRENNAN!
=D

Well done! I had no idea you were so well informed. I'll have to pick your brain when the time comes to replace my laptop...when I can aford to...when I've finished paying off the student debt I'm about to get into...when I'm 50...sigh.

Well, hey, on the bright side, if you live to 50, you can say you've managed to get out of debt and not pass it onto someone else in your family. Yay!
