Ice cream for Spring

For Alex's birthday, he got a Ninja Creami (which is a terrible name for a good ice cream machine).

We have been making different flavors for the past few months.

You can't really tell, but some of these flavors worked well, while others were a total bomb.  (I'm looking at you, cinnamon roll!)  But the strawberry (second attempt, anyways) and the pinapple-orange ice cream turned out really excellent.

It's been quite fun to make ice cream ourselves, we were discussing this with our friends Mike and Sarah....they have a professional ice cream machine and they have been working on the basic flavors and agree the simpler the flavor choice the better the result.  Apparently they make a wicked coffee ice cream.

My allergies have actually been manageable this year, which I'm very thankful for.  Unfortunately, it's the long weekend in May and Alex is working, and I'm sick at home with some kind of super cold, so I have been mostly bed-ridden for the last four days.

It's given me lots of time for reflection as I feel like this year is definitely a year seeing a lot of people change and circumstances, change, especially me.  I wonder what my life will be like in 10 years (If I manage to live that long.)

I worry about the wars in the Middle East and in Ukraine, and I worry about how I'm supposed to be effective as an adult sometime/most of the time.

It's been wild and fun, parts of this year, but then there's been times of extreme quiet, and it feels like a bit of an odd back and forth.

But it's good, it's sort of giving me some time to reflect on new routines, and different things I'm interested in doing this year.

Anyways, that's all for now, back to laying down and not having energy!

Well great

I just slept through a doctor's appointment (flu/fever/not sleeping) and I called in to ask if there would be any issue with them billing me, and the lady on the phone pretended she had no idea and hung up on me.

Really?  ={

TOW: When It Matters

As I sit here with my unbearable fever (which has sort of become quite fun when I get the shivers.  I'm pretty sure I've hallucinated several times today.) and sickness, I made an effort to do the things that I needed today.

That meant buying a Christmas present, meeting with a very nice girl, and going to church.

I only took one nap today in the morning, and by 6:55 p.m., I was battered.  I didn't want to go to church.  I didn't want to move.  But I took my sorry carcass there.  I thought I was maybe going to pass out.  Eh heh.

But in the end, I'm glad I went.  Sometimes, even when things are at their worst, that's when you have to do the things that really matter.  It's the last Advent Mass before Christmas.  That means a lot to Catholics, and to me.  It's the final hurrah before really cool stuff start happening in the liturgical calendar, and indeeed, the year.

Life is not about what you want, but about what you want to be present in your life, every day.

I can sleep anytime.  But there's only one 4th week of Advent Christmas Mass of 2010. And when you are at your worst and everyone else is at their best, maybe that's when it matters.

Still Ill

Well, I just found out I have an intense sinus infection.

Although, I already knew that because my head has been pounding intensely for the past 2 days on the left side of my face.  It hurt to walk today because I could feel the blood pounding in my face.

Now I'm on anti-biotics and a nasal spray.  Awesome.

I have not been this sick in years.  YEARS.
